This is the statue of the famous Napoleon's Sister, Pauline Bonaparte, the wife of Prince Borghese therefore the name. She was the first sovereign Duchess of Guastalla, and she was the only sibling of Bonaparte to visit Napoleon on his principality. The original statue was modeled by Antonio Canova. Of all Napoleon's siblings, she was his favorite, and ended up developing a reputation independently from her brother. This small piece of art is a fine representation of French history, speaking volumes through the carefully crafted etchings.
